I tried to bottle
the scent of Paris for you;
an air specific, evenly weighted
with class and disgust
pipes and hot flour
mopeds and pastis

south, the cicadas make the air
breathe like waves
when they fall silent I am afraid
a tourist or abandoned
a storm or sun in breach
